Makore is a type of wood that is commonly used in furniture and cabinetry, and flooring. It has a reddish brown color and a straight grain pattern. Makore is similar to mahogany, but it is not as dense or hard. Its known for being very dry and stable, which makes it less likely to warp or crack over time. In terms of hardness, Makore ranks somewhere in the middle, making it sturdy enough to withstand daily use but not so hard that it is difficult to work with. Makore trees are native to Africa and can grow up to 100 feet tall. Makore wood is often used in veneers, because it takes glue and stains well. It is also used in plywood and other composite materials. Makore wood is relatively easy to work with, making it a good choice for beginners.
